Former Auburn WR Sammie Coates had a rough second half to the 2016 season.

After catching 19 passes during the Pittsburgh Steelers’ first five games, Coates only managed two more catches during the rest of the regular season.

A finger injury was largely to blame for Coates’ struggles, but apparently he opted not to have surgery on the finger this offseason, showing off his crooked digit at Tuesday’s OTA session:

Coates did managed two catches in the Steelers’ AFC Championship Game loss to the New England Patriots, but his finger was clearly still bothering him.

It’s strange that he decided not to have surgery this offseason, but apparently the injury is feeling better. It’ll be interesting to see if he’s back to his normal self when the 2017 season kicks off.
