Jack Crowe served as the head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks for three seasons from 1990-1992, including the program’s first game as a member of the SEC. Crowe struggled in his first season in Fayetteville, finishing the 1990 campaign with a dismal 3-8 record including a 1-7 run through the Southwest Conference. The Razorbacks rebounded in 1991, finishing 6-6 overall and 5-3 in conference play while earning a berth in the Independence Bowl, which they lost.
Arkansas joined the SEC prior to the 1992 season and were prepared for Crowe to lead the program into new territory, but the Razorbacks opened the ’92 season with a loss to I-AA foe The Citadel and Crowe was promptly fired after the game. He never coached a game against a fellow SEC program in Arkansas’ inaugural year in the conference.
Crowe worked as the head coach at Jacksonville State for 13 seasons from 2000-2012 before retiring from coaching. Prior to taking the head coaching job at Arkansas he worked as an offensive coordinator at Arkansas in 1989 and in the SEC with the Auburn Tigers from 1982-1985.
