McCorvey spent 18 seasons in the SEC as an assistant coach, the last five of which were spent at Mississippi State.  During his time in Starkville, he served as offensive coordinator and assistant head coach, in addition to coaching the quarterbacks.  McCorvey helped guide the Bulldogs to an eight win season in 2007.

Prior to his stint with the Bulldogs, McCorvey spent five seasons at Tennessee where he coached the running backs.  During his tenure with the Vols, Tennessee went 46-14.

Before he went to Tennessee, McCorvey spent one season with at South Carolina under Brad Scott.  He took the South Carolina job after an eight-year stay with Alabama where he held multiple titles including wide receivers coach, offensive coordinator and assistant head coach.
