San Diego State advances to Final Four after controversial foul call in final seconds

San Diego State is going to the Final Four for the 1st time in program history.
The Aztecs defeated Creighton 57-56 in controversial fashion on Sunday afternoon. A late foul call with 1.2 seconds remaining proved to be the difference as SDSU’s Darrion Trammell made the clutch free throw to seal the win.

Trammell finished with 13 points. He was 1 of 2 Aztecs in double figures and was joined by Lamont Butler’s 18 points.
It’s a tough loss for Creighton, who was also playing for its only Final Four appearance in program history. The Blue Jays’ were led by center Ryan Kalkbrenner, who had 17 points. Baylor Scheierman contributed 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the loss.
San Diego State will face No. 9-seeded Florida Atlantic in the Final Four next weekend. This is also the Owls 1st appearance in the Final Four.
The other semifinal will be played between UConn and either Texas or Miami. The Huskies blew out Gonzaga in the Elite Eight on Saturday night.
