College GameDay has announced its guest picker for Week 8, and a former Ohio State star will be on hand for the honor.

CJ Stroud had a high-flying career while at Ohio State, producing a pair of top-5 finishes for the Heisman Trophy and back-to-back Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year awards. Now a member of the Houston Texans, Stroud will be back in Columbus on Saturday.

The NFL rookie was announced as the Week 8 guest picker for College GameDay on Thursday. GameDay will be on-site in Columbus for the major top-10 showdown between Ohio State and Penn State.

In his two years as Ohio State’s starting QB, Stroud went 2-0 against Penn State. He threw for over 650 yards with 2 touchdowns in those wins, including a dramatic fourth-quarter swing between the teams during the 2022 season.

Though he played just 2 full seasons with the Buckeyes, Stroud ranks second on the program’s all-time list for passing yards (8,123) and passing touchdowns (85). His 9.8 yards per attempt are also the best in program history for any QB with over 5,000 yards.

Stroud has since jumped to the NFL as the No. 2 overall pick for the Houston Texans. He’s off to an electric start and is among the early favorites for the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
