The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) used to be the selection system that determined the top teams in college football. However, starting in 2014, the College Football Playoff became the new selection system. As we know, that system has even been updated, going from 4 teams to 12 starting in 2024.
While the BCS relied on a combination of polls and computer models, the CFP is determined by a selection committee
With the 1st CFP rankings dropping on Tuesday, many football fans will wonder how the BCS would’ve ranked the teams differently. Fortunately, there’s an X account that simulates how the BCS would rank teams.

It will be interesting to see how these rankings compare to the initial CFP rankings on Tuesday night.
Oregon appears to be a clear favorite for the No. 1 ranking. The Ducks improved to 9-0 after beating Michigan in Week 10. Ohio State remains near the top after once again beating Penn State, while Georgia, Miami, and Texas round out the BCS top 5.
