USC has GREAT RB’s but NOT very good OC or HC....

Sadly, I tried to tell a lot of people that the closed door marriage between Will Muschamp and Bobby Bentley would eventually poison the water in Columbia. WM desperately needed a recruiting edge and Bentley, a serial overreaching dad with pedestrian kids for college athletes knew the only way to get Jake Bentley in a power five school was to broker a deal with WM. That deal ensured WM got a recruiter to combat in-state foes and made sure Jake Bentley, who had transferred from HS to HS until he found a school (where his Dad has a buddy) that would let him start. The plan was hatched long before JB came to USC, but Carolina just happened to be the “lucky ones” . Benching Jake Bentley now would be the end of the marriage and another nail in the coffin for an already offensively inept coach in a league where it takes offense to win. Will Muschamp was a desperate hire by Ray Tanner, and sadly it SHOULD cost Ray Tanner his job too. Gamecock homers will spew vitriole over this comment but even though the truth hurts it doesn’t hurt as bad as losing year in and year out. ONe last thing, had Bentley never came to USC Michael Scarnnechia MIGHT have been a helluva a QB for USC.
