Anthony Richardson 2023 NFL Draft stock: ESPN insider explains why Florida QB’s college completion percentage shouldn’t be a concern

Anthony Richardson has plenty of buzz around him after the NFL Combine. With the 2023 NFL Draft only a few short weeks away, the Florida QB’s stock has never been higher.
Could he rise all the way to the No. 1 spot? There are some who project Richardson to indeed be the first name called by commissioner Roger Goodell in Kansas City on Thursday, April 27.
Others are concerned about Richardson’s completion percentage with the Gators, which was at 53.8% in 2022. But ESPN analyst Louis Riddick said this week on “NFL Live” that teams shouldn’t be concerned about that:
.@LRiddickESPN says Anthony Richardson's college completion percentage should not be a concern ✍️
"Guys that had those concerns in college … usually made you look stupid. … Josh Allen showed you this. Jalen Hurts has shown you this." pic.twitter.com/7qVhRNPXjR

Riddick pointed to the track record of successful NFL QBs Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts, who also didn’t have the best college completion percentages at all times.
What does the future hold for Richardson?
All it takes is 1 team to become infatuated with Richardson and trade up with the Chicago Bears to land the No. 1 overall pick. Teams like the Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts, among others, could be in the market to draft a quarterback this offseason.
We’ll see where Richardson ultimately gets picked, but it’s safe to say he’ll be one of the most talked-about prospects over the next few weeks.
