Florida has just announced its attendance policy at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium for the upcoming college football season, and just like the rest of the country, capacity has been reduced to start the season due to COVID-19.

Ben Hill Griffin Stadium will be permitted to host 20 percent of its capacity (88,548) this fall which will leave room for around 17,000 fans this fall.

This official designation is currently set for Florida’s home opener on Oct. 3 against South Carolina during the second weekend of the SEC season.

Social distancing and masks are required to be worn inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, which is the same for every SEC stadium this season.

In addition to this news, tailgating will not be allowed on Florida’s campus this season, there will be no Gator Walk, Gator Walk Village will not be set up, there will be no Gators Fan Fest and there will be no spirit teams on the sidelines for games.

“As we have throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we worked hand in hand with UF Health, the SEC and its Medical Guidance Task Force, and campus officials to create the safest environment possible for the student-athletes, staff and fans,” Athletics Director Scott Stricklin said in a statement.

For those wondering, the attendance policy for the Florida-Georgia game in Jacksonville has not been set at this time.
