Florida coach Jim McElwain was fired up after the Gators’ big SEC East-clinching win over LSU on Saturday.
With all the back-and-forth jawing between the two schools in the wake of a Hurricane Matthew-forced rescheduling, McElwain took the Tigers to task in his postgame press conference.
In addition to taking a few shots at LSU, McElwain also referenced Florida’s slew of injured starters and the young backups who replaced them.
Here’s what Coach Mac had to say after the Gators’ huge 16-10 victory:
On young backup players stepping up in absence of injured starters:
“Our young guys played old. That’s good to see. That was a heckuva game.” — McElwain

On the fact that Saturday’s game was supposed to be a home game for the Gators:
“We’re 6-0 in the Swamp this year. That’s pretty cool.” — Mac alluding to fact today was supposed to be in Gainesville…

On making another trip to the SEC Championship Game:
“The future is bright for the #Gators. I’m happy for the Gator fans who don’t think we’re very good, but all we do is end up back in ATL."

On LSU’s smack talk before the game:
Mac on LSU rhetoric: "It just shocks me that somebody would question the Gators, and the way I look at it, they got what they deserved."

Jim McElwain on UF trying to duck LSU: "Can you believe that?… They got what they deserved. It should've been worse."

On the Florida offensive line stepping up:
“These guys getting called out up front. That ain’t right. And I’m proud of them.” — Mac voices support of O-line’s play
