Kowacie Reeves entered his name into the transfer portal back in March. On Friday, he revealed the program he’ll be transferring to.

Reeves announced via his Instagram that he will be heading to the ACC as a member of the Georgia Tech basketball program. Reeves will be joining former Boston Celtics assistant Damon Stoudamire, who will be the new coach for 2023.

Here’s Reeves’ post about his decision:

Reeves averaged 8.5 points per game for Florida in 2022. During the past two seasons, Reeves played in 60 games for the Gators. Reeves was the fifth-highest leading scorer on the team just behind Kyle Lofton, who averaged 8.7 points per game.

The Yellowjackets fired former coach Josh Pastner after finishing with a 15-18 record. Pastner coached in Atlanta for the past seven seasons.

First-year coach Todd Golden led Florida to an appearance in the NIT and a 16-17 record. Two of the biggest wins under Golden in 2022 were in The Swamp against No. 20 Missouri and No. 2 Tennessee.

Florida’s season was ended after the Gators lost to UCF in the NIT 67-49.

Another recent transfer from the Florida basketball program was Trey Bonham. Bonham originally transferred into the program from the Virginia Military Institute in April of 2022.

A player like Reeves with multiple years of experience will surely be missed.
