Max Brown intends to enter the transfer portal when the window opens on Dec. 4, according to a report.
That’s per On3’s Hayes Fawcett, who notes that Brown will have 3 years of eligibility remaining at his next program. Brown started Florida’s Week 13 game against Florida State after Graham Mertz suffered a season-ending collarbone injury.

Brown did not see much playing time this season outside of his Week 13 start against the Noles. On the year, he completed 19-of-28 passes for 192 yards, 0 touchdowns and 1 interception.
Still, losing Brown to the portal is not good news for the Gators. He was a 3-star prospect out of Tulsa, Okla., in the class of 2022.
Florida will now await a decision from Mertz about whether or not he will return to the program in 2024. Mertz has one year of eligibility remaining, but could also opt to enter the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Gators did not sign a quarterback from the high school ranks in the class of 2023. In the 2024 cycle, 5-star DJ Lagway is currently committed to the Gators and will be eligible to officially sign with the program next month.
