Richard McCullough, as president of Florida State, is one of the key figures in conference realignment discussions, and he said at a meeting with the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce that the Seminoles would be “very aggressive” in that environment.
“We’re trying to do anything we can to think about how we remain competitive,” McCullough said. “Florida State is expected to win. We’re going to be very aggressive.”
FSU has been speculated as one of the schools, alongside Clemson and possibly Miami, as a projected program to move to the SEC if the league continues to expand, possibly to 20 schools.
@PresMcCullough on #FSU conference affiliation: “It’s something I’m spending a lot of time on and we’re getting a lot of help. We’re trying to do anything we can to think about how we remain competitive. Florida State is expected to win. We’re going to be very aggressive.”

However, for FSU, the ACC’s Grant of Rights is a considerable stumbling block. The Grant of Rights isn’t set to expire until 2036. In 2013, each president or chancellor signed a deal to surrender their respective schools’ media rights to the ACC with an original expiration date of June 30, 2027. However, the agreement was extended for 9 more years in 2016 to provide increased television revenue and to get the ACC Network launched, Nole Gameday reported.
