While most of the world probably knows the name Goldberg from the wrestling ring, Georgia native Bill Goldberg got his start in Athens as a member of the Bulldogs defense. He even got drafted in the 1990 NFL Draft but, as we all know, football was not his ultimate calling.

Monday, it was announced that Goldberg has been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a 2018 inductee. Goldberg’s Hall of Fame ceremony will take place Friday, April 6 in New Orleans during WrestleMania 34.

WWE Executive Vice President Paul Levesque offered up this statement on Goldberg following the announcement:

“Goldberg’s unique athleticism, persona and intensity captured the imagination of sports entertainment fans around the world throughout his illustrious career. We are honored to have Goldberg take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame.”
