Georgia fans will always claim LB Jake Ganus as one of their own after his spectacular season in a Bulldogs uniform during the 2015 season.

But it is easy to forget the reason why he became a Bulldog in the first place.

Ganus spent his prior seasons as a standout linebacker for UAB before the football program was force to disband.

Fans may dislike many of the things Mark Richt did in recent seasons, but bringing Ganus on board was a fantastic decision.

Here’s a look at Ganus from Thursday:

According to SEC Country, Ganus will be wearing his Georgia helmet during Saturday’s game:

“I’ve had that helmet with me for a while,” said Ganus after practice Thursday. “I spent three years there, I have hundreds of teammates and a bunch of coaches. I just wanted today to be the day I could just honor them. It’s all about my teammates. They got me to Georgia, those coaches got me to Georgia, those coaches they gave me a scholarship and I’m grateful to them and UAB for that. I’ll be wearing the Georgia helmet on Saturday, but I just want to take a day and thank them.

“I’ve got two fan bases behind me, it’s awesome.”
