Georgia in the Playoff? Social media debates Bulldogs chances after loss to Alabama

Georgia has been on an unprecedented string of dominance for the better parts of 3 seasons. The Bulldogs have won back-to-back national titles and entered Championship Weekend undefeated and ranked No. 1.
Unfortunately, Georgia lost to Alabama in an SEC Championship Game thriller. Georgia finished the game with 78 yards rushing and could not contain Jalen Milroe at key moments of the win by Nick Saban’s program.
Now, the Bulldogs have put their College Football Playoff hopes in the hands of the committee. Georgia has made the field following a similar loss in 2021, but this year’s potential field has a number of top candidates heading into Saturday’s nightcap
It’s possible losses by Michigan and Florida State make the job of the committee that much easier on Sunday. For now, it’s a spirited debate on whether or not the Bulldogs truly deserve to be one of the four best teams in America after the loss in Atlanta.
Here is how fans and media kickstarted the CFP debate surrounding Georgia:
I know this will tick people off but ??♂️ Georgia has beat Georgia tonight.
Missed FG

Way too many pentalites. Still very much in game.
The Committee doesn’t put the 4 best teams in, they pick the 4 they can justify the easiest. UGA is out.— David Pollack (@davidpollack47) December 3, 2023
I’m assuming a Michigan win.
If FSU wins, it’s 2 of these 4. (And realistically, FSU is one of them.) pic.twitter.com/m3FCm3w7sW

Georgia ain’t getting into the CFP after winning the last two national titles.
I’d watch UGA play Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.

If the CFP committee really wants to put in the best 4 teams and not the most deserving, it’ll be:
1. Washington
2. Texas
3. Alabama
4. GeorgiaMichigan got caught blatantly cheating. FSU is without at least 1 and possibly 2 QBs.
Simple.

Pending the 8 p.m. kickoffs, think this would be my four, in order:
1. Washington
2. Michigan
3. Alabama
4. Texas— Joshua Moore ⚡️ (@JoshMooreHL) December 3, 2023
This same logic applies to Alabama and Georgia, though, and I think it then turns Alabama > Georgia into Texas and Georgia being “comparable” and Texas obviously having a win over their prominent common opponent. https://t.co/jdR8plo8Ur

Alabama beating Georgia was the SEC’s Nightmare. The possibility of no SEC team being in the College Football Playoff is REAL. Washington is in. Texas beat Alabama so they are in. If Michigan and FSU win, then they are in. The committee can’t change up now to benefit the SEC. pic.twitter.com/tnEMQoPZRT

Final Four HAS to be:
Michigan
Georgia
Washington
AlabamaAnything else would be a disgrace to CFB. #CFP #CollegeFootballPlayoff https://t.co/5rABh1b27L

If Florida St wins out, it should be:
Michigan, UW, Florida St, Texas…
If Florida St loses, then it should be:
Michigan, UW, Texas, Bama https://t.co/haR668Y2RY— J Wills (@ChillJDub) December 3, 2023
Alabama should undoubtedly be in the playoffs now. Georgia should be out. https://t.co/2OtSoRtGbz
