Georgia has been constructing its new indoor athletic facility since December, but it hasn’t broken ground for it until now.

The official groundbreaking ceremony for the University of Georgia Indoor Athletic Facility will be held on Tuesday at  3 p.m. ET  outside Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall.

University of Georgia President Jere W. Morehead will be attending as well as athletic director Greg McGarity, head coach Kirby Smart and track and field All-American Kendell Williams.

The new building is scheduled for completion in January, 2017. Among the features will be a 100-yard practice field for football, a 65-meter track runway and jumping pits as well as indoor practice areas for other teams during bad weather.

The 30 million dollar facility will be connected to the Butts-Mehre building.
