The Georgia Bulldogs conclude their SEC season this weekend with a rivalry matchup against the Auburn Tigers. Georgia needs a win to stay alive in the SEC East title race.
Before Saturday night’s game, let’s take a look at some of the best and worst numbers for the ‘Dawgs.
The Good
671: rushing yards by Nick Chubb over last four games. The true freshman running back has done a fantastic job of replacing Todd Gurley while he was suspended. He ran for 671 yards and five touchdowns on just 102 carries.
1: The Bulldogs need only one loss from Missouri and a win this weekend against Auburn to take back control of the SEC East and gain a berth to the SEC Championship Game.
3: Todd Gurley comes back. UGA’s star and former Heisman Trophy candidate is back on the field after serving a four-game suspension. Prior to his suspension, he was the SEC’s leading rusher and averaged more than eight yards per carry.
The Bad
316: average rushing yards allowed. Prior to the Florida game a few weeks ago, the ‘Dawgs only allowed just over 100 yards per game on the ground. In the last two weeks, they’ve allowed an average of 316 rushing yards, a steep decline from what was the conference’s second-best run defense.
8: rushing touchdowns allowed in last two weeks. Georgia’s run defense has a tough task ahead having to contain the SEC’s leading rushing attack.
38.7: average points scored per game for Auburn. Georgia possesses the league’s No. 1 scoring offense, but the Tigers aren’t far behind at No. 3. Spectators could be in for an offensive shootout on Saturday night.
