Though freshman QB Jake Fromm is likely to remain the starter for the Georgia Bulldogs in the coming weeks, sophomore Jacob Eason is getting closer to full strength after suffering a knee injury in Week 1.
Eason has returned to practice and has been slowly doing more every day, and is seemingly nearing a return.
According to coach Kirby Smart, Eason’s knee held up well on Tuesday, as the former starter moved around in the pocket more:
Kirby Smart said QB Jacob Eason looks closer today to being ready to play. "He’s moved around and escaped some (from D-linemen)."

Fromm will almost certainly remain the starter for Saturday’s game at Tennessee, but he’ll need to keep performing well if he’s going to keep the job.
Eason has the experience of starting last season, so Smart has a solid backup option should Fromm start to struggle.
First, though, the sophomore quarterback needs to get back to full health.
