Published:
Javon Wims is facing a two-game suspension without pay following his punch at Chauncey Gardner-Johnson in a back-and-forth brouhaha for the Chicago Bears wide receiver and the New Orleans Saints defensive back.
The former Georgia wide receiver was ejected in the third quarter of Sunday’s game after he sucker punched the former Florida defensive back. Wims can appeal the penalty within three business days.
Wims told team officials that Gardner-Johnson spit on him, in addition to ripping out Wims’ mouthpiece, during Sunday’s game before Wims sucker punched Gardner-Johnson, per sources, Tom Pellissero reported.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson responded to Javon Wims’ punches via Instagram saying it was a “cheap shot” and that Wims “punch like a female.” pic.twitter.com/Xv1f5pC8Pb

THREAD: My Zapruder breakdown of the Chauncey Gardner-Johnson/Javon Wims beef.
It begins on this play on the Bears’ first possession of the second half. After exchanging some words, CJGJ rips Wims’ mouthpiece off and it falls onto the ground. pic.twitter.com/wwQgcbKdJ5
