Stetson Bennett may have taken some criticism in the last week for not graduating from Georgia, but the 2-time national championship-winning quarterback is off to a great start with the Los Angeles Rams.
Bennett unleashed a pair of on-time passes that connected down the field with Sam James and Van Jefferson. Rams coach Sean McVay in coverage on Jefferson on the second pass showed some Kirby Smart-like speed against the Rams’ No. 2 receiver.
The Rams expect Bennett to be their No. 2 quarterback behind Matthew Stafford after they drafted Bennett in the fourth round with the 128th overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Bennett was a polarizing prospect leading into the NFL Draft, similar to how portions of the Georgia fan base felt about him the last 2 seasons.
The ultimate underdog quarterback, who defied odds and proved his coaches and fan base wrong, earned second-team All-SEC honors in 2022 and offensive most valuable player honors in both the 2021 and 2022 College Football Playoff semifinals and national championships.
