John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats are out of the NCAA Tournament after losing to No. 15 seed Saint Peter’s in Round 1 last week.
Now, Coach Cal and the Wildcats are looking ahead to the 2022-23 men’s hoops season, and there are some important decisions that need to be made.
On his weekly radio show, Calipari weighed in on freshman Shaedon Sharpe, who didn’t play for the Wildcats this year after joining the team midway through the season. Calipari said he hopes to get a chance to coach Sharpe in actual games, but expects him to get NBA Draft feedback:
Calipari says he expects Shaedon Sharpe to at least get feedback from the NBA before making his decision (like all his players). “I hope I get a chance to coach him in real games because I’ve really enjoyed him in practice. I’ve enjoyed him as a person. He’s a real star.”

Sharpe was the No. 3 overall recruit in the 2021 class, per the 247Sports composite rankings. We’ll see if he decides to enter the draft, but several NBA teams might be interested in him in the lottery.
