Mark Stoops on Georgia: ‘You’d have to be a moron not to appreciate what they do’

Mark Stoops knows what Kentucky is up against this week with a trip to Georgia.

“You’d have to be a moron not to appreciate what they do,” Stoops said. “It’s very impressive. … They recruit very well.”

Stoops added that Georgia doesn’t get enough credit for its talent evaluation and coaching in addition to its recruiting success. Georgia has won 13 straight in the series, but this time both teams are undefeated as Kentucky is coming off a win over Florida, and Georgia over Auburn.

“What a great opportunity,” Stoops said. “You have to credit Coach Kirby Smart, his staff, his players for what they’ve done in the consistency they’ve had. … It’s a uniquely talented football team across the board.”

Coming off of the Florida game, UK’s offensive line played its best game of the year.

“They took pride in straining,” Stoops said. “… I just think their overall commitment and attitude the past several weeks paid off in that game.”

That helped Kentucky and Ray Davis deliver a nearly 300-yard performance as Kentucky battered then-No. 22 Florida 33-14 from Kroger Field, and took UF’s spot in the AP Poll for the first time since last October.
