Mark Stoops spoke with media following Kentucky’s 24-3 win over Mississippi State Saturday night.
The Wildcats are back in the win column after a very rough October saw them drop 3 straight to Georgia, Tennessee and Mizzou.
Devin Leary led the offense well, completing 13 of his 22 attempts for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns. it wasn’t Heisman-level stuff, but it didn’t need to be Saturday evening.
Leary also was playing through what was at the time an unknown injury to fans. Stoops shed some light on that situation postgame:
Stoops says Devin Leary had something in his eye and had trouble reading the play sheet late.
“Hopefully he’ll be fine.”

Stoops started his press conference by telling reporters that Kentucky needed this win. And that while it wasn’t the prettiest, it still gets Kentucky to 6 wins, officially stamping their ticket to bowl season.
Mark Stoops: “We needed this win. It wasn’t pretty but it’s a victory and we’ll take it.”

Another note on bowl season, Stoops mentioned that you can’t take the opportunity of playing 1 more game for granted. 6 wins may seem like an easy goal to some, but nothing is ever easy in the SEC after all.
Mark Stoops on clinching bowl eligibility for eighth straight season: “You can’t take that for granted. It’s not easy.”
