Brian Kelly’s struggles against top 10 teams continues.
The Tigers were thoroughly dominated by Tennessee Saturday. The Vols put up over 500 yards of total offense and delivered its most lopsided win over LSU since the 1940s with a 40-13 performance that was never close.
Kelly was proud of one player Saturday.
Brian Kelly shuts down any talk about a potential QB controversy: “We think that the one part of the offense that was pretty good today was the quarterback [Jayden Daniels].” #LSU

Daniels finished the game 32 of 45 for 300 yards and a touchdown. He did play well against an OK Tennessee secondary.
Kelly noted that he was being out-coached at halftime. He wasn’t too pleased with himself postgame, either. The first-year LSU coach explained why the Tigers decided to play aggressive on fourth downs throughout the game. LSU went 0-3 on 4th down attempts.
Brian Kelly on the aggressive 4th down play-calling: “Got behind by 10 and then couldn’t match possessions at that time.”
He said they were watching the analytics on those decisions, but it was really made by the game situation. #LSU

Here’s more from Kelly’s postgame press conference.
Brian Kelly on if he can take anything positive from today? “It allows you to clearly look at what you have to support the program in. We don’t have anybody walking through that door that’s going to change this team dramatically.”
Adds: “We’ve got to do a better job coaching.”

About 95% of Brian Kelly’s press conference was him taking blame for LSU’s 40-13 loss to Tennessee.
Kelly said there are obvious places to improve, but thinks coaching sits atop that list.
“They want to win. They play hard. We have to do a better job coaching them.”

Garrett Dellinger’s injury was classified as a “knee strain.” He’ll have an MRI, Brian Kelly said. #LSU
