The chants came bellowing from the rafters of Mercedes-Benz Stadium as the purple and gold faithful in the waning minutes of the SEC Championship, which LSU won 37-10 over Georgia.

“Joe for Heisman! Joe for Heisman,” went the chants from LSU.

Burrow may have locked up that Heisman with a dominating performance over a strong Georgia defense. Burrow was 28-for-38 passing for 349 yards and four touchdowns as LSU led 17-3 at halftime and never looked back, as a 17-point third quarter put the game on ice.

Throughout this season, coach Ed Orgeron and Burrow have shared how much the special season has been for them and the people of Louisiana. After the Alabama victory, Burrow and teammates met with fans, who traveled to the airport to welcome the Tigers home. On Senior Night, Burrow came out for the pregame festivities with a custom jersey that read, “Burreaux,” to the delight of Cajun country.

Burrow became a living legend in Louisiana this season, and he also took home the MVP trophy from this game. LSU still has at least one game remaining, so it will be interesting to see what its matchup is and how the season ends.
