LSU defensive lineman Jacobian Guillory will return to the Tigers in 2025.
The fifth-year senior from Alexandria tore his Achilles in LSU’s home opener against Nicholls State on Sept. 7. During a radio interview on The Jordy Culotta Show on Thursday, Guillory said he doesn’t want his LSU career to end with a dud.
“I want to come back for another season,” Guillory said Thursday. “What I fought for at LSU, I can’t let it end like that. So, coming back for another season, it’s not only big for me but it’s big for my family. It’s big for everybody. I’ve been wishing I could be out there pushing the pocket.”
Guillory came into the 2024 season with 39 career appearances and 3 starts for the Tigers. He has been with the program since 2020, when he joined as a blue-chip defensive tackle out of Alexandria Senior High School.
After making just 1 appearance as a true freshman, he played in 38 of a possible 40 games over the next 3 seasons. He made 2 starts in 2022 (Mississippi State and Purdue in the Citrus Bowl) and 1 start last season (Florida State).
He entered this season expected to be a key figure along the defensive line. Guillory played 33 snaps in the opener against USC but did not record a stat. He had 1 tackle against Nicholls before leaving the field with an injury.
“It’s been tough, because you don’t want to go out like that, especially for my family,” Guillory said on Thursday. “They were so hyped up to watch my senior season. However, it has been a blessing in disguise because I get to spend more time at home with my son and just learn the game more. I’m just attacking it every day like I would a practice. That’s all I can really do.”
The Tigers are 6-2 in their third season under coach Brian Kelly. They are off this weekend, providing a bit of extra prep before hosting Alabama on Nov. 9.
