You certainly don’t see this everyday: a quarterback transferring to play basketball.

But that’s exactly what LSU freshman walk-on QB Trey Laforge did.

Loyola University New Orleans announced that Laforge has joined its basketball roster for the 2016-17 season Friday.

“We are excited to add Trey to the program,” said Loyola head coach Hollowell in a release. “He immediately adds depth for us at the forward position. He is very crafty at the four and passes the ball very well,” continued Hollowell. “He also has good vision off of the pick and roll which will help us greatly moving forward.”

The 6-foot-6 signal caller led his high school basketball team, scoring 17 points per game during his senior season, and that earned him All-Metro honors and a spot in the Louisiana High School Coaches Association All-Star Basketball Game in 2015.

Laforge joins a Loyola team that is currently 10-3 on the season.
