Malik Nabers speaks to his drive to elevate himself among LSU legends
Malik Nabers is emerging as an all-time great when it comes to LSU’s receivers.
The junior from Youngsville, Louisiana has already reached 2,294 receiving yards on his career, which puts him at No. 9 on LSU’s all-time receiving yards list. With lots of football left to be played, he will likely find himself a few spots higher when it’s all said and done. He could even end up No. 1 on that list.
In a video from LSU’s social media account, Nabers spoke to what it means to be in the conversation with LSU legends and his motivation for getting himself into that position.

For Nabers, he could have gone to a different school, but at the end of the day, he wanted to represent his home state.
“A lot of my players from the city like Lafayette, they was all coming home to play for LSU,” Nabers said. “I didn’t want to be the only stop that just went and left home.”
Nabers’ competitive drive has gotten him to where he is now, and that competitiveness was what got him an offer to play for the Tigers.
“He’s always had this extreme competitiveness about him,” LSU wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton said. “It really motivated me to recruit him as a player.”
Now Nabers sits 707 yards away from the No. 1 spot on LSU’s all time receiving yards list, and that’s the spot he wants to be at the end of his career.
“You talk about Ja’marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, but when you talk about them I want my name to be also added,” Nabers said. “I’m not that far off from that, so I’m working on getting to my name at the No. 1 spot.”
