The New York Jets have been busy collecting former SEC defensive backs this year, including three LSU Tigers.

In March, the team signed veteran CB Morris Claiborne. Then, in April, the Jets drafted S Jamal Adams in the first round and former Florida S Marcus Maye in the second.

Now, just before Tuesday’s trade deadline, it was reported that the team made a deal with the San Francisco 49ers, adding CB Rashard Robinson to the roster:

Apparently, the trade caught Jets coach Todd Bowles off-guard, as he found out at the end of Tuesday’s press conference:

In eight games, Robinson has 20 tackles, seven passes defensed, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and an interception.

The second-year player was a fourth-round choice of the 49ers in the 2016 NFL Draft.

With Robinson on board and plenty of SEC talent in the secondary, the Jets’ pass defense should improve in the coming weeks.
