Ryan Clark recently visited LSU senior safety Greg Brooks Jr. in the hospital as he recovers from an emergency surgery to remove a large tumor.

The ESPN analyst who formerly played safety at LSU recapped his uplifting visit on social media.

“I had a chance to visit @Gbrooks_5 today in the hospital. He is such a fighter. It’s all we’ve ever known him to be,” Clark said. “He played 65 snaps with his tumor vs. @FSUFootball. He fought daily to be with his team.”

Brooks Jr. has tallied 2 pass deflection this season. Clark added that the road to recovery will be challenging but Brooks Jr. is going to do everything in his power to eventually return to the field.

“Right now he’s not the exact same GB, but still the same fighter. Football is far off, & honestly should be the furthest thing from everyone’s mind,” Clark said. “Pray for his family, support this recovery, & know that this young man has 0 quit in him. I’ll take time, but he’ll bounce back. #PrayFor3.”

LSU head coach Brian Kelly addressed Brooks Jr.’s desire to play again the season.

“That’s so hard for me to even know. There are so many unanswered questions, I don’t know that I could even begin to give you the medical pieces relative to the surgery to give you an educated answer on that,” Kelly said. “I saw him in the hospital on Sunday, he’s still coming out of heavy sedation, so we weren’t able to have a lucid conversation. I know before he went in, he was pretty adamant about playing again this year but that’s Greg Brooks.”

No. 12 LSU will take on visiting Arkansas in Week 4.
