Brandon Ruiz and Mississippi State had a disappointing evening on Tuesday, falling 34-7 to Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl.

Injuries plagued Ruiz’s season in 2021 as he didn’t play in 7 games. He did go 20-for-20 on his extra point attempts while making 5 of his 9 field goal tries.

Now, after 2 seasons in Starkville after joining the Bulldogs from Arizona State after the 2018 season, Ruiz has opted to declare for the NFL Draft. He announced the news on his Instagram account on Wednesday evening:

Ruiz was with the Sun Devils in 2017 and 2018. He missed just 1 extra point in 95 tries during that span and made 75.5 percent of his field goals.

After sitting out in 2019 due to transfer rules, he was a perfect 24-of-24 in PAT attempts in 2020. He also converted 10 of his 12 field goal tries.
