Mississippi State wide receiver Malik Heath is reportedly recovering from surgery after being in an auto accident Thursday.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop G public affairs Sgt. Derrick Beckom detailed the accident to Mississippi Clarion Ledger’s Andy Kostka:
Heath was traveling along Old Highway 25 when he pulled across Highway 25, crossing the northbound lanes to head southbound. Mitchell Voelker, 31, from Tupelo, was driving northbound when he collided with the driver’s side door of Heath’s vehicle, “causing substantial damage to both vehicles,” Beckom said.
Kostka’s report states Heath and Voelker were transported to OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville. Heath was later airlifted to a Memphis-area hospital, per the report.
Steve Robertson of 247Sports says Heath is recovering from surgery.
Update on this. He had surgery last night and is recovering. Thank the good Lord, he’s alive and expected to make a full recovery. I don’t have any info on anyone else who was in the wreck. I know our collective hope is that all involved are okay. https://t.co/6FXWfvEWSs
