Shakeel Moore was one of several Mississippi State men’s basketball players to enter the NCAA transfer portal after the conclusion of the 2021-22 season.
But, after new coach Chris Jans replaced Ben Howland at the helm of the program, a couple of Bulldogs have decided to withdraw from the portal and stay in Starkville.
College basketball insider Jon Rothstein tweeted on Wednesday that Moore became the latest player to withdraw from the portal to remain at Mississippi State for 2022-23:
Shakeel Moore is returning to Mississippi State and will not transfer, per his trainer. Major coup for Chris Jans and the Bulldogs.

Moore appeared in 34 games for the Bulldogs last season, starting 29 of them. He averaged 8.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.6 steals per contest.
Can he take the next step toward becoming a star player this coming season? We’ll see if he remains a starter for the Bulldogs under Jans.
