Eli Drinkwitz, during his weekly radio show on Wednesday evening, updated the injury status of one of his wide receivers that has yet to play this season. And the situation could have taken a much more serious turn.

According to Drinkwitz, 3rd-year sophomore Chance Luper had a blood clot in one of his lungs that was discovered prior to the season opener against Louisiana Tech. Luper is currently taking blood thinners as a result, Drinkwitz said, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Dave Matter.

Luper played in 4 games as a true freshman in 2020. In 2021, he made 21 catches for 203 yards and a touchdown, including a career-best 6 catches against Texas A&M. His father, Curtis, coaches running backs for the Tigers.

Missouri is back in action on Saturday as they travel to No. 25 South Carolina. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
