Now that’s a way to start conference play!

Missouri baseball proved Friday wasn’t a fluke Sunday, winning 2 games to sweep the No. 2 Tennessee Vols. The Tigers outscored the Vols 23-6 on the weekend. With the wins, Missouri improves to 16-3 on the season and has won 5 straight with a date against rival Kansas set for Wednesday.

Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong for Tennessee this weekend and vice versa for the Tigers. Missouri never trailed, hopping out to big leads early in all 3 games. And they didn’t falter as the weekend went on either, playing perhaps their best game Sunday evening.

Austin Troesser was perfect from the bump, pitching 4.2 innings with 5 strikeouts and zero hits allowed.

Missouri’s next series will be against South Carolina, a group that is also on fire to start SEC play. The No. 16 Gamecocks boast a 20-1 record and just outscored Georgia 29-8 across their weekend series sweep.
