SEC Network analyst Todd Walker says this year is Arkansas’s ‘best chance’ to win College World Series

Arkansas has the college baseball world talking after a sweep of No. 1 Texas over the weekend.
The Razorbacks, who had been scuffling over the last 3 weeks, got back on track in a big way. The Longhorns had not dropped an SEC series all year, but that changed in Fayetteville. Dave Van Horn’s Hogs secured the sweep on Saturday with a 13-8 victory in Game 3.
Arkansas has been solidly on track to host a Regional in the NCAA Tournament. Coming out of Week 12, Todd Walker is raising the expectations. The SEC Network analyst believes this is the team that could bring the national championship trophy back to Arkansas.
“I think they’re for real. I think (Van Horn) will tell you this is the best chance they have to win this whole thing, especially since 2018 when they had that great team that made it all the way to the finals.” Walker said on SEC Now.
“The starting pitching is ridiculously good. They’ve got Gage Wood back from injury. He was great the other night. Zach Root is a real ace, went 8 (innings) the other night, struck out 11. (Landon) Beidelschies, the rest of that group… Parker Coil, they might get him back before the end of the year, he’s dynamic. And the list goes on.
“Will McEntire and that bullpen. Bullpen’s ridiculously good. Offense is the best in the country and they play good defense. So Arkansas is the complete package this year. They have a real shot.”
Arkansas has made things interesting in the race for the SEC regular-season title. The Hogs are now 17-7 in conference play, only 2 games back of a 19-5 Texas squad.
Up next, Arkansas travels to LSU. The Tigers have a 15-8 conference record after splitting the first 2 games of their series with Texas A&M in a doubleheader.
