New Alabama AD Greg Byrne will be paid well in his first year with the Crimson Tide.
Through an open records request, TideSports.com revealed on Tuesday that Byrne, who previously served as Arizona’s athletic director, will make $900,000 in 2017.
Though Byrne’s salary is well below Vanderbilt vice chancellor for athletics and university affairs David Williams, who makes $3.24 million per year, it is in line with what other top schools pay their ADs.
Florida’s Scott Stricklin, for instance, is a new hire and will make $1 million this year.
Byrne took over for former Alabama AD Bill Battle on March 1 and will make $75,000 per month in 2017.
