Billy Napier dialed in to speak with reporters ahead of Florida’s Week 12 matchup against Mizzou.
The Gators are 5-5 and have their backs against the wall in a fight for bowl eligibility. By the time the season is over Florida will have played 6 ranked opponents.
And Missouri is one of them. The Tigers jumped all the way to No. 9 after their huge win over Tennessee last Saturday.
Napier assessed the Tigers on Wednesday. here’s what he had to say:
“Missouri’s done a really good job on defense. They’ve got a number of players that are back from last year. They’ve improved fundamentally and you can tell it’s the second year in the system with their defensive coordinator,” Napier said. “So a little bit more detail in what they are doing and I do think they have a couple players in particular that are tough matchups for you on the edge, at all levels of the defense.”
The Tigers offense is stout, too. Brady Cook, Luther Burden and Cody Schrader make up a dangerous offensive attack, one that gashed Tennessee for 530 total yards last Saturday.
Here’s what Napier had to say about the Tigers offense:
“Offensively, Eli’s always done a good job. He’s obviously hired a coordinator, added a few more wrinkles. They’ve got some matchup players. So I think ultimately, (against) Tennessee, they did a good job defending that group and then they were able to rush the ball once they got the game under control.”
The Gators and Tigers will face off at 7:30 p.m. ET from Columbia on ESPN.
