DeVonta Smith didn’t waste any time making his first NFL catch a productive play for the Philadelphia Eagles. In fact, it went for a touchdown on a pass from Jalen Hurts.

It was an 18-yard pass in the front corner of the end zone against the Atlanta Falcons with 6:17 left in the first quarter.

This is exactly the kind of play the Eagles envisioned when they drafted Smith out of Alabama at No. 10 overall in the NFL Draft.

The Alabama wide receiver is making a splash of a debut with former teammate Jalen Hurts. Smith had 117 catches for 1,856 yards and 20 touchdowns last season, and was the first receiver to win the Heisman Trophy in 29 years.
