Jihaad Campbell, No. 9-rated EDGE and Clemson decommit, announces to SEC West team

Jihaad Campbell is one of the recruits who changed his mind after the news that Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables would leave for Oklahoma.

Campbell is a 6-foot-3 and 215-pound EDGE out of IMG Academy, and was a Clemson commit before Venables left. On Wednesday, he announced plans to sign with Alabama over Texas A&M. Campbell is the No. 9 EDGE in this class, and the No. 11 player in the state of Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Nick Saban got Campbell on campus for an unofficial visit last Friday night, which ultimately sealed the deal for UA, Bama OnLine reported.

“It’s a great school,” Campbell told 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins this week. “You know they win championships and their program is built on success.”

Campbell’s another addition from the IMG pipeline, the third Alabama commit in 2022 alone, joining Tyler Booker and Jaleel Skinner.
