Kirby Smart discusses potential weather effect on the South Carolina game

Hurricane Matthew, a Category 4 storm currently moving toward the U.S., will likely have a big effect on SEC football this weekend.
The game most in danger of having to be postponed is the Georgia-South Carolina game in Columbia.
According to 247Sports, though, Georgia coach Kirby Smart is having his team prepare as if everything will go according to plan this weekend:
“I’ve heard some different people say some different statements,” Smart said. “To be honest with you, we’re just focused on getting ready for the game. We had a talk as a team today, we had a team meeting to discuss just that — that our focus needed to be on preparing for the game and that whatever happens, happens. That’s really out of our control. We’re focused on preparing for it. There’s a lot of scenarios out there, none of which I want to discuss because it’s not really my call. I want to do what’s right for the safety of the players and the safety of the people of South Carolina.”
Though it looks unlikely the game will go on as planned on Saturday, at the moment, it is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern time and will be shown on the SEC Network.
