On ESPN’s College GameDay, Tom Rinaldi sat down with former LSU coach Les Miles to discuss the Mad Hatter’s firing, his next move and more.
Miles said he doesn’t hold a grudge against the school or AD Joe Alleva, saying he understands why he was let go.
“I am certain that they wanted more production and they wanted more wins,” he said. “I understand.”
This Saturday will be the first LSU game without Miles on the sideline since 2004, and Miles said he’s not sure what he’ll be doing.
“This Saturday will be a difficult thing for me,” he said. “I might just get in the backyard and walk around and make some calls.”
But, Miles added, when LSU and Mizzou kick off, he’ll be in front of his TV watching the action.
“At 7, those Tigers come on. I’ll be right there.”
It’s been reported that Miles was offered the job at his alma mater, Michigan, in 2011 and turned it down. Though Miles wouldn’t comment on those reports, Rinaldi said he praised Jim Harbaugh.
“There’s a great coach at Michigan now,” Miles said.
The interview was received well on social media, with many media members wishing the former LSU coach well:
Interesting Les Miles opted to do this interview wearing purple tie/pocket square.. Have great respect for him. Curious to see his next move

And good for Lee Corso. He nailed it: "Les Miles stayed too long." Happens to an awful lot of coaches. Change of scenery can be very big.

You know Les Miles is hurting after giving his heart and soul to LSU for 11-plus years and then sent packing, but he is one class individual
