Early last week, LSU DT Davon Godchaux was arrested for domestic battery, child endangerment and false imprisonment.
But, as more details about the incident were revealed, it looked like the entire thing was a misunderstanding.
When charges were dropped on Tuesday, Godchaux’s brief suspension was lifted. Still, though, the junior didn’t know what his role would be Saturday against Mizzou.
Godchaux told LSUNow.com that he was just happy to be back on the field Saturday night:
“I feel like it was a misunderstanding,” he said after LSU’s 42-7 win versus Missouri on Saturday. “I’m just glad to be back with my teammates.”
At practice late in the week, though, interim coach Ed Orgeron wanted Godchaux back working with the first team:
“He was like ‘Godchaux get in there!’” Godchaux said. “That gave me a positive time that I was going to play this week. Just staying humble and keep working and trusting the man above. I can’t control things that happen.
“I could tell he was looking for me and he said ‘Where’s Godchaux?’ and I got back to my technique and get used to the things I was doing and I had to get ready for Missouri.”
Godchaux finished Saturday’s game with three tackles and a sack.
