Mike White will receive a raise in his salary with his new job as Georgia’s men’s basketball coach over what he made at Florida.

White will make $3.4 million per year at Georgia, The Athletic reported, after multiple reports noted that he made $3.1 million at Florida, including Only Gators. Georgia hired White to turn around a program that had arguably the worst season in school history on top of not receiving an NCAA bid since 2015.

White, 45, was 142-88 in 7 seasons at Florida, including a 72-52 mark in SEC games, but fans grew increasingly impatient that he didn’t maximize on the talent there, and go deeper in the postseason. The Gators were 19-13 this past season with a 9-9 conference record.

The Gators failed to advance past the second round in their other three NCAA appearances under White, sparking a bit of discontent from a fan base that was used to far more success under Donovan. White simply never could duplicate any of the kind of success the Gators enjoyed under Billy Donovan.

Georgia went 6-26 this past season, the most losses in school history, including 1-17 in the SEC, the fewest conference wins in the post-World War II era. One of White’s first priorities is to keep more of the in-state talent, especially around the Atlanta area, after a myriad of stars have left for out-of-state programs.
