Auburn QB John Franklin III shared photos of himself Wednesday with NFL quarterback Michael Vick.

Franklin credits Vick with paving the way for dual-threat quarterbacks, and refers to him as the “Greatest Of All Time” with the goat emoji.

Vick took the college football world by storm in 1999 and 2000 at Virginia Tech. He was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 draft by the Atlanta Falcons and played there until ’06, when he faced legal issues related to dog fighting. Vick was on the Pittsburg Steelers roster last season.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn has not yet named a starting quarterback, but Franklin is the favorite to win the job among media members. Malzahn’s rejection of a two-quarterback approach in 2016 seems to favor Franklin’s dual-threat skill set. AU’s starting quarterback will be formally announced prior to the season opener against Clemson.
