The Notre Dame family is mourning on Sunday, as it appears former DL Kona Schwenke has passed away at the age of 25.
Schwenke helped the Fighting Irish make it to the 2013 BCS National Championship Game, where they lost to Alabama.
According to former Notre Dame receiver Robby Toma’s Instagram page, Schwenke passed away on Sunday, though details aren’t known at this time:
“God has a plan,” Toma’s post reads. “We will tell the stories of how things were different with you. I love you my brother. Thank you for everything over the years. I am grateful for the time we got to spend with you on earth. My heart hurts but I know the memories we have will last a lifetime. _\,,/ look over us my USO. My prayers are with my Schwenke Family.”
On Monday, more tributes poured in from former teammates:
I never take a day for granted with the people I care about. Life is too short and things happen too often. Enjoy the time you can share with your friends family and loved ones. The good ones are always gone too soon. #RIPuce pic.twitter.com/f58DXAU1rE
