Back in June, Maryland OL Jordan McNair died following a practice session during which he collapsed.
Now, reports are coming out about McNair’s cause of death, and it’s not looking good for Maryland’s coaching staff.
According to a report from ESPN, McNair’s body temperature was a dangerous 106 degrees when he arrived at the hospital:
Maryland offensive lineman Jordan McNair showed signs of extreme exhaustion, had difficulty standing upright while running a set of 110-yard sprints and was found to have a body temperature of 106 degrees at a local hospital before he died of heatstroke suffered during a football workout, multiple sources told ESPN.
With all we know about proper hydration and the dangers of heatstroke these days, this is not a good look for the Maryland staff.
What happens next remains to be seen, but lawsuits are likely heading Maryland’s way. Read all of the details of ESPN’s report here.
