Texas running back Jaydon Blue hobbled off the field early in the first quarter of Saturday’s top-10 showdown with Michigan and was seen entering the team’s medical tent.

It was not immediately clear what the issue was, but when he left the field and was met by trainers on the sideline, Blue pointed to the outside of his right knee. Sophomore running back Quintrevion Wisner took over for Blue.

FOX sideline reporter Jenny Taft reported midway through the second quarter that Texas would not say whether Blue was available or not, but that Blue was trying to stay moving and keep himself warm. He briefly went to the locker room and had his ankle re-tapped, per Taft.

Without Blue, a thin situation gets a little worse. Texas was already without rising rusher Cedric Baxter Jr., who tore his ACL during fall camp. Freshman running back Christian Clark also sustained a season-ending injury in camp.

Freshman Jerrick Gibson also handled carries on the Longhorns’ third drive of the game against Michigan. He capped a 12-play, 76-yard drive with a 7-yard touchdown run. Gibson also scored in Colorado’s opener against Colorado State.

Through the team’s first 3 possessions, Wisner logged 4 carries for 23 yards and Gibson had 3 for 20. Blue had 4 carries for 14 yards and 3 catches for 6 yards at the time of his exit. Texas held a 14-3 lead midway through the second quarter.
