Yahoo! Sports ranks each Power 5 school in overall athletic success

The SEC boasts some of the country’s best football teams, but that only tells a portion of the story when it comes to overall athletic success.
The rest of the conference’s sports teams are also some of the nation’s best, though, as we’ve seen an All-SEC women’s basketball title game and an All-SEC College World Series final.
However, in order to receive a top ranking, a school has to have athletic success in a wide range of sports. Yahoo! Sports writer Pat Forde put out a ranking of all 65 power conference schools’ overall performances, which can be seen here.
Forde used each school’s annual standing in the Learfield Directors Cup for the last five years to come up with his final ranking.
Here’s how each of the 14 SEC schools fared, with all at least a little bit behind No. 1 Stanford:
- No. 2 — Florida
- No. 10 — Texas A&M
- No. 15 — Georgia
- No. 18 — Kentucky
- No. 19 — LSU
- No. 22 — Arkansas
- No. 26 — Alabama
- No. 31 — Auburn
- No. 34 — South Carolina
- No. 36 — Tennessee
- No. 40 — Mizzou
- No. 45 — Mississippi State
- No. 51 — Vanderbilt
- No. 52 — Ole Miss
Every Power 5 school has a lot of work to do to catch Stanford, but at least the Gators are nipping on their heels a bit heading into the 2017-18 school year.
